Formula Racing

The concept behind Formula SAE is a worldwide design competition that tasks student design teams to develop a small Formula-style race car. Each student team designs, builds, and tests a prototype based on a series of rules, whose purpose is both ensuring on-track safety (the cars are driven us) and promoting clever problem solving

I started one year into our club-turned-team. I served as Vice President for my third year, and now do my best to make sure that the car gets made. If I were to describe this experience in one word, its fellowship.

JFK once said "...why climb the highest mountain?...We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too."

In 1962, he visited NASA. During his tour of the facility, he met a janitor who was carrying a broom down the hallway. JFK asked the janitor what he did for NASA, and the janitor replied, “I’m helping put a man on the moon.”

After 4 years a member of the team, I still feel that electricity (especially in the new members), that feeling that we are all working towards something special.
